Cornell bumped for Picasso

I entered the revered halls of the MOMA, NYC, hoping to see the work of Joseph Cornell.

He had been put into storage for the Picasso sculpture exhibition!

Went to Whitney Museum of American Art, where they had his sublime ” Rose Castle ” piece/shadow box on display. I stood transfixed for a long time and revisited it before I left the Museum .

Op Shops

They call them thrift Shops in NYC.

Jewish Thrift Shop, with lots of vintage items, good prices, around $25 US for most pieces.

Salvation Army, well picked over, but cheap.

Housing Works Thrift Store

My favourite, staff are volunteers, including an Australian from Traralgon, manning the dressing room. Stock is good quality, some genuine vintage pieces, or new designer, it can be on the pricey side.
