The Body

I went to see a Polish Film,  at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Cinema 1, as past of the Melbourne International Film Festival.

The Body

My visual artist instincts were intrigued by the title. I thought it may have been about  a Life Drawing Model.

Alas no, it was a rather dark tale of a Warsaw coroner, his bulimic daughter, and the wacky therapist, who attempted to cure the daughter by means of a seance.

Heavy stuff, the visual imagery was superbly bleak, the plot covered a multitude of themes, the film had many quirky twists and it all ended on a euphoric note.

The cinema was packed, the viewing time sped by, and I left the cinema feeling strangely optimistic about human nature.
